A RETURN TO ANDREWS AFTER A LONG LAYOFF

What a great turnout of both SMUGGERS and Andrew's Residents as we did a Spring Program the first time we have been to Andrews for well over a year. We did TipToe Through the Tulips, many old fashioned waltzes, a couple of Gospel and many, many selections from the 50's and 60's.Sharon, Andrew's activity director, joined us for more than half of our performance after she took most of the photos you see here. She also passed around a great lunch which was very satisfying as we finished up the afternoon performance. It has always been a great time for all any time SMUG has performed at Andrews.

OUR FIRST PRACTISE AT HILLSBORO FUNERAL HOME

Today SMUG ventured to The Hillsboro Funeral Home as a new location for us to practise on Saturday mornings. After 9 years at the Masonic Lodge it was great to arrive in a heated building, all on one floor and with ample parking. We have been so fortunate to have had the basement of the lodge all these years, but parking in the winter has become tough when the streets don't get plowed, and the stairs are getting harder for some of us to navigate as we get older and less agile for such tasks.

Dennis was instrumental in discussing with the manager, Vince Murnaghan, on a recent occasion that led to the possibility and after this morning I'm sure everyone is very pleased to be taking advantage of the wonderful facility. Mr. Murnaghan tells us there seldom is a funeral on a Saturday morning, but if there is, he will let us know in plenty of time and it could be an opportunity to try something different(like Razzy's or someone's front yard).

We're looking forward to next week when we will give the coffee and cookies a try again.I also noted that we practised better there also.Good fun. Thanks to Vince Murnaghan for allowing us to give it a try and to Dennis for his bringing forth this opportunity.

SPRING PROGRAM at BEACH GROVE HOME

What a great day SMUG had at Beach Grove today with our new Spring 2017 Program. Turned out to be a real "keeper" and the many, many residents gave their approval in many warm and meaningful gestures, the best being their singing along. I'm proud of you all for your valiant effort and strong singing. We may very well do it again. Thanks to Marilyn for her kind introduction and to the staff for bringing the residents out to enjoy the program. They ARE A VERY HAPPY AND UPBEAT GROUP guided by some marvelous and devoted helpers at the home.
